Gwent Police improve performance management systems with QlikView

"The use of QlikView will enable us to assess the performance of police officers and staff at all levels of the organization in detail, which with the previous systems in place within the Force, has not been possible. In addition, it will enable us to more clearly identify the availability of appropriately trained staff and highlight where there are shortages." John Stafford, CIO, Gwent Police

Gwent Police strives to address the needs of its communities. As part of a comprehensive branch review of the way the Force functions, Gwent Police looked to adapting technologies to improve efficiencies and help shape the direction of the Force. Accordingly, QlikView has been introduced as a leading technology to assist in measuring performance and accountability at all levels.

Gwent Police needed to update the performance management process for its police officers and staff. The Force required a solution that could measure staff performance and help to allocate resources more efficiently. The Force chose QlikView with the intention of allowing all authorized staff to have access to their own performance statistics, the aggregated information of their peers, any staff whom they supervise and details of occurrences within the business area in which they work.

The QlikView Business Intelligence Tool is seen as a means of assisting accountability and performance and was deemed an ideal fit to the direction the Force wished to take.

"Even though it is in the very early days, there is every indication that the implementation of QlikView has generated positive feedback, particularly from analysts as, on a practical level, the solution frees up their time to focus more on the cause of crime." John Stafford, CIO, Gwent Police
